How to Make Birthday Decor for Girls

    • 1). Decide on a theme for your daughter's party. If the little girl in your life is a princess, by all means, try the popular princess theme. However, if she prefers other themes, such as a "favorite movie star," "favorite food," or "tea party" theme, work with her to explore other kinds of decor that also are considered girlish. Colorful polka dots, hearts, flowers, or geometric designs in girlish colors can go a long way towards making any party theme work. However, if your daughter has favorite colors that are not normally considered girlish, don't hesitate to use those instead.

    • 2). Create the appropriate decorations. For a princess party, get crown stencils and cut princess tiaras with your scissors out of cardboard. Place the decorations strategically around the room, and complement them with princess dolls. Augment the cardboard decorations with some history, by placing some pictures of princesses throughout history around the room. For a movie star-themed party, cut out pictures of movie stars, and post them around the room. Your daughter should be able to provide plenty of creative decoration.

    • 3). Create other decorations, if you decide against a princess theme. For instance, you can cut polka dots out of pink, purple, and silver cardboard, and enlist the help of your daughter in arranging them creatively on the wall, perhaps to create another shape entirely. Or, you could cut out various other shapes, such as geometric shapes or ships or trees, and color them in favorite colors, to consist with the theme. Sparkles go a long way towards making any kind of decoration attractive.

    • 4). Buy or bake a cake to complement the theme that you selected. For instance, if doing a ship theme, make a ship-shaped cake, iced with pink and white. Or you could make a variety of cakes in geometric shapes, iced in her favorite colors. Or, make a princess-crown cake, and ice it in regular colors, such as blue and white, in order to take a twist on the theme. It's all up to you and your daughter.
