Collect your supplies. Supplies can be purchased at a local craft store. There are really no rules for what you can and can't put on your envelopes, so have some fun. It's always wise to invest in some sturdy multi-colored craft paper and non-acetate glue. The craft paper can be cut into a wide variety of fun shapes and the non-acetate glue is strong and does not discolor or warp the paper products you will be using.

Begin designing your envelope. Take a scrap sheet of paper and brainstorm some layout ideas for your envelopes. Be creative. Sketch these ideas out to make sure that they will work on an envelope. Once you're happy with a design it's time to apply it to the envelopes.

Take the blank envelopes out and lay them down separately on a work space. Use your design to begin creating your envelopes. If you are cutting out shapes from craft paper try to do this all in one step. This way you will be able to glue your paper design onto all of the envelopes at one time. This will save you time.

You can add polka dots to a cut out of a balloon, eyes and a mouth on a clown shaped piece of paper or simply add some small design lines for texture. Now your very own craft envelopes are complete. Save these for an extra special occasion and impress your friends with your creativity.
