Celebrities

• Dress in a costume representing your favorite television or movie character -- or the actor who portrays the character. Locate a knock-off of a celebrity red-carpet dress that made headlines, and add a wig and accessories to match, or imitate an outrageous costume worn by a celebrity. Wear a sports jersey and headgear of a team hero. Or get together with a group of friends to dress as a band, and carry a microphone and instruments to complete the look.
  
  

Blood and Gore

• Shocking, bloody and gory costumes are attention-getters when worn to a Halloween party or event. Peeling and corroded skin, injured and severed body parts and fake blood are elements of gruesome costumes. Use face paints and special effects kits to create gory makeup for the face. Then finish off the costume with severed body parts made of latex, or have knives and sharp objects piercing the body. As an alternative to makeup, purchase a gory mask to finish the costume.
  
  

Monsters

• Monsters and Halloween go hand-in-hand, and movie monster costumes never go out of style. Dress up as a classic movie monster, such as Dracula, Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein or the Wolfman. Go as an undead zombie by wearing ripped clothing and adding special effects makeup to your face to look like your skin is peeling and decaying. Realistic vampire fangs, along with a black costume and cape, make a haunting costume. Dress as a terrifying alien in a creepy latex mask and full costume.
  
  

Rebels

• Teens are at a rebellious and expressive age, so dress in a costume that expresses adolescent angst. Base the costume on rebellious teens from past eras, such as biker gangs from the 1950s, hippies from the 1960s, punks from the 1970s or metal heads from the 1980s. Studded leather and chains, ripped fishnets and jeans, old T-shirts, spray paint for hair and lots of black colored clothing and accessories are some elements of a rebellious costume.
