Modern Deer Decor for Walls
- The traditional way to show off after a successful hunting trip would be to stuff the head of the deer and mount it on the wall. Contemporary designers have been inspired by this idea to create modern versions that feature different materials and simplified designs. Look for abstracted plywood or polished aluminium designs or even plush toy versions.
- Purchase wallpaper that uses the deer motif within a crisp pattern, then use the paper to create a feature wall. An alternative modern approach would be to blow up a photograph of a deer, turn the color into two-tone, and use it to cover a whole wall. Or with a low-resolution image, blow it up really big to create a pixellated graphic look. You can even find life-size cut-out vinyl stickers of deer silhouettes in single bold colors to spread on a wall.
- Source vintage paintings at auctions or yard sales and modernize them by mounting in a simple, white frame. Or create your own by printing a photograph of a deer onto canvas but not in typical wildlife colors. Make the image abstract by focusing in on the deer's eye, hooves or antlers and dedicating an image to each one. Use digital printing to print each one onto a three dimensional canvas, then display them close together for a contemporary look.
- Start collecting models of deer -- such as Christmas decorations -- or look at auctions, in toyshops and antique shops. Mount each model or ornament in a Perspex box. Display them all on the same wall, either in a line or in a grouping, for a modern take on deer decor.
