Seven Suggestions to Revive a Weary Traveler
One of my greatest pleasures in life is visiting different cultures both abroad & in select regions of the United States. Although each destination may be spectacular, the actual journey can place a huge toll on your exhausted body & over-indulged spirit. Therefore, the following seven suggestions were compiled to help alleviate some of your travel stress.
1. Water - Staying hydrated on the road or in the air is crucial when keeping your equilibrium & sensibilities intake. Because alcohol & caffeine quickly dehydrate, replenishing your body's fluids with fresh water, fruit & nutritious drinks will assist you in a much more rapid system recovery.
2. Snacks - Crunching & munching your way through a memorable trip can be a good thing. Small, well thought out snacks are important when keeping your metabolism revved up & weight down. Incidentally, little, well-chewed bites reward your body with better digestion, vigor & energy.
3. Cuisine - Of course consuming local flavors is part of the travel experience. Prior to a meal, don't hesitate to inquire about menu ingredients. It isn't a rude request, but is a smart practice to institute when you're considering devouring delicious edibles. Too much sodium, sugar, dairy, etc. can wear you down & possibly ruin an otherwise wonderful excursion.
4. Sleep - Recently I read that we cannot hope to re-coup hours of missed or restless sleep. Experts confirm that an average of eight hours per night is still essential to recharge our batteries & for our overall health & well-being. Consequently, I believe that some of the reasons to go on vacation are for exploration, to be dazzled, exhilarated & for vital rest. Do your best to catch-up on your sleep whenever you can. It certainly can't hurt to at least try.
5. Sun - Not only a great source of Vitamin D but a fantastic distraction from a miserable, overcast day or locale. Solar revitalization is only over-rated when sun screen & sunglasses are minimized or totally overlooked. Take care of your skin by shielding it from harmful rays. Be smart when basking in this authentic source of light.
6. Exercise - Recuperating from a trip of a lifetime is easier to endure when non-extraneous movement is involved. High impact cardio may not be the right answer to physical & mental revitalization. However, easy brief motions can gradually get you back in an upbeat mood in no time flat. Oh the joys of making fitness fun.
7. Meditation - During quiet solitude, the power of dreaming or reminiscing can keep happy memories fresh on your mind, especially when your journeys leave you feeling tired, weary & unfulfilled. Fulfillment often lies in your ability to plan for, then resurrect those amazing experiences one moment & adventure at a time.
