Home Remedy for Urine Spots
- White vinegar has many possible home uses. One of these is to remove urine spots and its odor. After drying the urine spot with paper towels or a cloth, dab the vinegar into the carpet or mattress, making sure that it gets deep enough to treat all the urine. Let it air dry.
Salt is another great natural stain lifter. Pour a generous amount of salt on a urine spot and let it sit. After about 20-30 minutes, check the area. You should notice that the salt has changed from white to yellow and has absorbed the urine. Then vacuum away the salt.
Shampoo and detergent have been used commonly to remove urine spots from mattresses for years. Other cleaning agents such as borax, baking soda mixed with hydrogen peroxide, and SHOUT stain remover are also effective. Alcohol can be used to disinfect a soiled mattress, but will not remove the stain.
