Stepping Up and Out of Procrastination

Delayed success?

Things may come to those who wait... but only the things left by those who hustle.

Abraham Lincoln

Procrastination is the act of procrastinating; putting off or delaying or deferring an action to a later time. If putting it off works for you then by all means procrastinate to your heart's content.

I always say that if you want to win the race you must first be prepared to get of the starting blocks. How to get off the blocks? Work out the source of your procrastination and then deal with it head on.

Do you feel overwhelmed or overloaded? Are you overly or unreasonably concerned about failure and so are not willing to take even the smallest of risks? Do you set unrealistic standards for yourself – a proud and confirmed perfectionist? Inability to prioritise, boredom and poor time management can all be added to the list! Consider this fact...

Many of us procrastinate because of an innate fear of success and all the resulting changes it brings. Yes we do! We happily create dilemmas to stop ourselves moving forward! The truth is that all the tools we need for our journey are already within us. It's not about 'fitting in' but 'standing out'!

The 6th Degree

You could be six degrees or less away from attaining your dream job or winning that big contract. It is all about who you know, and who your friends know, and who their friends know, and so on. Making a viable contact within your industry of interest could only be a few connections away. People generally love helping people.

Zero in on your target person or company. Brainstorm – Who you know who has even a remote connection to your target person or company. Network it – Call up those friends and acquaintances and go out for coffee. Work your way up the ladder and you will eventually find yourself in front of your target person signing that contract.

If you can't find a way out on your own then find a coach or mentor to help you gain perspective of the situation. You deserve more!
