How to Connect to Wireless Hot Spots

    Windows XP

    • 1). Click the "Start" button, then click "Control Panel."

    • 2). Double click "Network Connections." If you do not see this option on the Control Panel, click "Switch to Classic View."

    • 3). Right-click on your wireless adapter and click "View Available Wireless Networks."

    • 4). Find the wireless hot spot that you would like to connect to. Click it. If you are connecting to an open public access point, put a check in the box labeled "Allow me to connect to the selected wireless network, even though it is not secure."

    • 5). Click the "Connect" button.

    Windows Vista and 7

    • 1). Click the "Start" button, then click "Connect To" if you are running Windows Vista. If you are running Windows 7, right click on the signal bar-shaped wireless network icon in the lower right corner of the screen and click "Connect to a Network."

    • 2). Double-click the wireless hot spot that you would like to connect to.

    • 3). Read the message and confirm that you wish to connect to the hot spot if it is open and unprotected.
