The umbilical cord will be cut after the birth of a baby. Some practitioners will cut the cord right away, while others will wait until the cord stops pulsating. Sometimes you or your partner can also cut the cord. There are no nerves in the umbilical cord and it does not hurt the mother or newborn baby.
