    • 1). Remove the blinds from the window frame. Pop off the end cap at the bottom of each blind with a screwdriver, untie the draw string that holds the blinds together and remove all of the slats.

    • 2). Mix dishwashing soap and water in a bucket, then scrub the blinds with a soapy sponge, making sure to remove all of the dirt and debris. Rinse the aluminum blinds with clean water and wipe them dry with a clean towel.

    • 3). Move the blinds outside to your yard or driveway and lay them flat on a tarp. Spray paint has a tendency to travel and stain nearby objects, and working outside will help prevent damage to other items in your home.

    • 4). Spray the entire blind with a bonding primer. Choose a primer that is formulated for use on metal. Spray the blinds in a steady back and forth motion, being careful to cover the entire surface with primer. Allow the primer to dry for one hour. Turn the slats over to the other side and repeat the primer application. Allow the primer to dry completely before moving on.

    • 5). Paint the blinds with a spray paint formulated for metal surfaces. Apply two to three thin coats of paint to each side of the blinds, and allow the final coat to dry for one hour. Flip the slats over and paint the other side with two to three thin coats of paint. Allow the blinds to dry overnight, then reassemble and rehang them.
