Healthcare Reform - History and Hoopla

Can you believe all the hoopla around healthcare reform? I'm not talking about the good stuff that's in the healthcare bill.
I'm talking about the ugly behavior that is often disguised as patriotism.
What is with the racist and homophobic commentary in 2010! Really makes you kind of wonder if folks are in the streets marching because they care about healthcare reform or because they are fueled by a passionate hatred...
of whom or what, Lord only know.
Protest in America is a wonderful thing as long as protestors do so in a civil manner.
Yet for some reason, folks feel compelled to perform for the media and act like jackasses...
spitting, cursing, and spreading heinous untruths about healthcare reform...
just for attention??? Or is it something deeper within our democratic culture that brings to the surface, during challenging times, these unfortunate displays of ugly civil disobedience all in the name of healthcare reform.
We made history on March 21, 2010.
Let's not forget that...
Now everyone is not going to be happy because many people have their own agendas which just cause conflict and create uninformed chaos.
It seems that people forget, we are still a very young country, still blazing trails that hopefully will sustain our commitment to our democratic principles.
And sometimes we have to take risks...
the best kind are the informed ones, but risks nonetheless.
Trailblazing takes backbone...
just look at our history and those who came before us...
seems to me that our past is littered with a number of significant trailblazers starting with George Washington.
The ugly hoopla of March 21, 2010 will remain a tragic anecdote in the annals of American political history.
The good news is that we will continue to blaze trails...
we have no choice...
given the uniqueness of our democracy! Remember, we the people.
