How to Get Permanent Ink Out of a Shirt
- 1). Slip a paper towel underneath the area where the ballpoint pen stain is.
- 2). Apply rubbing alcohol to the area that has the pen stain with an eyedropper if the mark is small. If the pen mark is larger, apply the rubbing alcohol directly on the stain, pouring directly from the bottle. Leave the rubbing alcohol on the stain for 15 minutes or until the mark lifts.
- 3). Rinse the area with cool water, and apply a small amount of laundry stain pretreater.
- 4). Wash with the hottest water possible.
- 1). Rinse the area where there is the pen stain with water, and remove as much of the ink as possible.
- 2). Mix hot water, laundry detergent and ammonia in a tub. The measurements don't have to be precise -- enough water to submerge the shirt, a splash of laundry detergent and a splash of ammonia should do it.
- 3). Soak the shirt for at least half an hour. If it is a tough stain, it can be left overnight.
- 4). Rub the stain area between your fingers to encourage the stain to move. Do this every once in a while to keep the fibers of the shirt releasing the ink.
- 5). Take the shirt out of the mixture and wash as usual. Air dry the shirt until the stain has been completely removed.
