How to Redye With Rit Dye Colors
- 1). Select the Rit liquid dye color that you want to use to redye your fabric. You can find Rit dye at any craft, fabric or grocery store in a wide range of colors. If you cannot find the specific color you are envisioning, you can create a custom color by mixing together a few similar shades.
- 2). Fill a large pot with 3 gallons of water and pour one container's worth of liquid Rit dye into the water.
- 3). Heat the water until it just begins to boil; then, turn down the heat to low.
- 4). Place the fabric you want to dye into the water without soaking or wetting it. Submerge the fabric completely into the simmering water. Simmer the fabric for 20 minutes; then, pull it out to check the coloration. Simmer the fabric for a longer period of time until you reach the desired color.
- 5). Rinse the fabric under hot water, decreasing the heat as the water turns clear. Dry the fabric in a clothes dryer under high heat.
