• Selling a car can be time consuming and expensive, especially if it is not operational. The easy option is to take it to a dealer and haggle to end up likely getting less than it is worth. The other option is to fix the car up, advertise it, deal with prospective buyers, maintain, insure and garage the car until it sells and finally do the paper to sell it. This latter step should yield a higher selling price, but is extremely time consuming. Simply donating your car eliminates all of this hassle.
  
  

Clearing Space in Your Garage

• If you have a car that you are not using, it is likely taking up space in your garage. Given that a garage sized space in a self-storage facility can cost anywhere from $40 to hundreds of dollars, depending on where you live, that space is valuable. Donating the car frees it up for you to use more productively.
  
  

Saving Money

• Finally, donating your car to WHQR will save you money on taxes. Their partner, an organization known as CARS, will sell your donated car at auction and give 70 percent of the proceeds to WHQR. You can write off the car's selling price as a charitable donation on your taxes, reducing the taxes that you have to pay. While most tax deductions require you to spend money to save money on your taxes, donating your car costs you nothing and may, in fact, save you money if you are able to stop maintaining and insuring it. As such, donating it, in effect, creates money out of thin air for you.
