    Yardwork

    • During the summertime, the hot weather can deter seniors and other people from maintaining their lawns and gardens. Many families also go on vacation during the summer, so they may need to have their yards taken care of. As a result, people are willing to pay kids for tasks such as watering plants, trimming bushes, mowing the lawn, weeding and more. Ask your neighbors and surrounding community for potential customers who will require your services.

    Pet Caretaker

    • For families that go on vacation, leaving their pets at a boarding facility can be expensive. A responsible child can feed, play, walk and refill water for pets a few times throughout the day. Cats need to have their litter box cleaned and dogs need to exercise and use the bathroom outdoors. The family can also drop off their pet before they leave so the pet stays at the child's place of residence.

    Babysitting

    • If your teenager is responsible and has a passion for nurturing children, babysitting can be a good option for extra income. Make sure the young teen preparers a babysitting kit, with age-appropriate movies, storybooks, arts and craft materials, first-aid kit and healthy snacks. Start your teen babysitting for relatives and friends and expand the clientele as your teen gets more experience and referrals.

    Camp Counselor

    • If you have been attending a camp or summer program since you were young, ask if they are hiring staff members and counselors for their programs. In the summertime, camps and summer programs employ responsible teen counselors to look after younger children. The position gives a young teen a chance to develop responsibility and mature while making money and having fun at the same time.
