How to Remove Active Virus
- 1). Navigate to the website of AVG (see the link in the Resources section below), then download and install the AVG anti-virus software.
- 2). Scan your entire computer for viruses with the AVG program. This will be the last step in the installation process---the software will ask you if you want to complete a full scan of your computer. Allow that scan to complete, no matter how long the scan takes. You may have more viruses than you are aware of.
- 3). Check the summary screen for viruses. The program will indicate to you how many viruses were found, what types they were and where they were found. It is not critical that you learn where the viruses are, or even their names, as this program will remove all of the viruses for you.
- 4). Click on "Remove All Unhealed Infections." This button will destroy all traces of all viruses that have been found on your computer. The program will have already removed some, but this step will ensure that all viruses that have been found will be removed, even active viruses.
- 5). Let the scanner stay running. Once you are done with an overall scan, just all the AVG program to stay running in the background. This will help ensure that you are not infected by another virus.
