How to Make a Cascading Water Fountain at Home
- 1). Drill a hole in the bottom of the fountain base. The hole must be large enough for the water pump's water tube. Plug the hole with a rubber fountain plug. It will act as a washer. The plug has a hole that will hold the water tube, while stopping the base from leaking.
- 2). Dig a hole for the underground reservoir. The hole must meet be the dimensions of the basin chosen for the underground reservoir.
- 3). Drop the basin into the hole. Add the fountain pump in the center and the concrete block to the basin. The block will help weigh down the basin and prevent shifting.
- 4). Cut a hole in the center of the metal screen with metal cutting shears. Make the hole large enough for the pump's water tube and power cord.
- 5). Pull the water tube and power cord through the hole in the screen. Place the screen over the underground basin.
- 6). Direct the power cord to a nearby ground fault circuit interrupter outlet. Push the water tube through the plug in the vessel. Place the vessel on top of the screen.
- 7). Fill the vessel and underground reservoir with water. Hide the screen covering the basin by placing decorative rocks and stones on top.
- 8). Plug in the power cord and wait for the water to flow. Water should cascade down the vessel to the rocks below.
