  Decorating for Halloween does not need to be expensive to be fun. In fact, when you look around, plenty of ideas for decorating cost very little. You can even craft some decorations from materials you have in your home. All it takes is a little bit of imagination and you're well on your way to making holiday décor that helps you create a special Halloween mood.
  
  

Use Paint

• Painting pumpkins is one the cheapest and easiest ways to decorate for Halloween. Create the types of faces you want for jack-o-lanterns without the hassle and mess of carving.
  
  Paint the inside of a jar the colors of pumpkins and gourds. Cut facial features from black construction paper and glue them to the outside of the jar. Place LED lights in the jar for a candlelit look.
  
  Paint a terra cotta flowerpot black or white or both. Use a small paintbrush or marker to draw different Halloween shapes, such as ghosts, jack-o-lantern faces or bats on the pot. Allow the pot to dry and fill it with candy.
  
  

Use Poster Board

• Nothing beats a black silhouette for Halloween. Trace your favorite Halloween shapes (e.g., bats, cats, ravens, jack-o-lantern faces) on black poster board and cut them out. Orange poster board gives you the ultimate inexpensive window décor when it comes to pumpkins. Simply cut the pumpkin face from the paper and decorate with markers. Use double-sided tape to attach the shapes to windows, pumpkins and lampshades.
  
  

Use Webbing

• One of the best ideas for creating an instantly spooky atmosphere includes webbing. A little bit of this stuff goes a long way, and it adds not only a visual aspect to your décor but a textural one as well. In discreet places, a little bit of webbing will spook the most unsuspecting.
  
  

Use Candlelight

• Nothing sets the mood for Halloween more than a little bit of a dim glow. Candles are some of the most inexpensive decorations you can buy, and using them throughout your home will create an eerie ambiance. Use various sizes and shapes of candles and display them in groups for a heightened effect.
