Homemade Cleaner for a Tub & Shower

    • 1). Mix 4 tbsp. of baking soda in 1 qt. of water to make an all purpose cleaner, as recommended by Michigan State University.

    • 2). Add some baking soda to a damp abrasive sponge for extra scouring power, as recommended by Michigan State University and the City of Gillette, Wyoming.

    • 3). Spray the cleaner on the tub and shower, and scrub it with a sponge, using extra cleaner in especially dirty areas.

    • 4). Rinse the baking soda off of the tub and shower surfaces. Baking soda does not leave any toxic residue, but the tub and shower will appear more shiny and clean after rinsing off the baking soda cleaner.

    • 5). Mix 1 part hydrogen peroxide with 2 parts water to make a homemade mold and mildew cleaner. Utah State University recommends putting this mixture in a spray bottle.

    • 6). Spray any spots with the hydrogen peroxide mixture and let the cleaner sit for at least an hour. The hydrogen peroxide should kill mold spores and allow the cleaner to rinse them away after an hour.
