The Select Comfort bed has had its fair share if unhappy customers and complaints. However, in all fairness while the bed doesn't suite everybody, many people do sleep well and enjoy their beds. If you're considering purchasing one of these beds you should know both sides of the story. Here are some complaints about the Select Comfort bed.
One of the primary complaints about this bed is that there is a trench effect in the middle of the bed. This is because these beds have dual chambers of air for sleeping partners. It can be very uncomfortable to try to stay away from the middle of the bed without falling off of the bed. You can forget all about sleeping right next to your sleeping partner or cuddling. There will be a definite trench effect if you have different comfort settings. Because people have complained about this, Select Comfort has offered a solution for this problem. They suggest that you place a foam support filler in the middle of the bed. Obviously, you will have to pay the additional shipping charges and pay for the foam support as well and sometimes this doesn't even help.
Another complaint shat some customers have is of air pumps that are faulty on their Select Comfort beds. There have been some complaints on the Consumer Affairs website about this and that replacement pumps that were sent to them didn't work either.
Select Comfort offers a twenty year warranty on their beds. However, what many customers don't realize is that this warranty is only a 100 percent or the first two years. It becomes a warranty that is prorated and the customer must pay what sometimes can become a large portion of the bill after two years. It can become rather expensive if you have to replace the air pumps very often. It wouldn't be so bad if all of the employees explained this to their customers. However, many customers complain that the twenty year warranty is explained to them as an all of the parts will be replaced at no cost to you warranty. Some customers report that the wording on the warranty wasn't obvious to them, although the paperwork clearly expresses the warranty policy.
