How to Make Your Own Animated Text for Free

    • 1). Open the graphics software you want to use to create animated text. There are plenty of graphics programs that allow you to make animated text, but they are typically expensive. GIMP is free for everyone and it comes in versions for PC and Mac users (See resources). Other include Adobe Flash, Xara and Wild FX.

    • 2). Choose "File" and "New," then use the drop-down template menu to select the "Web Banner Common" option. Go to the "Tools" menu and select the "Text" option, then type in the text you want to animate.

    • 3). Use the floating tool palette to the right of your work space to adjust the font, color and shape properties of your text. Go to the "Filters" menu, choose "Animation" and select an animation effect from the menu.

    • 4). Select the "Play" option from the "Animation" menu to preview your animation. Save your animation by clicking "Save As" and the "Select File Type" option. Choose to save as GIF.
