    • 1). Attach flea collars on all your pets. These collars can be brought from any pet shop, and they will repel fleas and pests from staying on your pet's fur.

    • 2). Wash pets using anti-flea shampoo. These shampoos contain chemicals that kill and repel fleas and pests.

    • 3). Comb your pet's fur with a flea comb. This works by catching fleas and eggs in the comb teeth and by exposing the pet's skin so it can be checked for bites.

    • 4). Clean in dark and dusty places in the home because these are the preferred habitats for pest and will kill any already there. Vacuum behind sofas and in corners of rooms.

    • 5). Regularly change bedding in both bedrooms and your pet's beds.

    • 6). Sprinkle regular table salt around doorways, especially doorways leading to the garden. This will stop fleas and pest from getting in when not on a pet. The salt dehydrates them and will kill them.

    • 7). Add some scented oils to bedding and spray it around the home. Lavender, eucalyptus and garlic are especially good for this. Mix the oil with water in an atomizer to spray on furniture.

    • 8). Use pesticides to remove the problem. This is the most effective way of getting rid of pests, but people with small children and pets have worries about adverse health effects. Professionals can be hired, or low-level pesticides can be sprayed around the home.

    • 9). Add brewers yeast to your pet's diet or cider vinegar to water. This method may have to be tried in conjunction with other methods as some pets do not like them.
