How to Take Apart an HP 2100 Printer
- 1). Turn off the HP 2100 and unplug the power cable from the wall outlet. Unplug the parallel or networking cable from the back of the printer.
- 2). Open the toner cartridge panel and pull the toner cartridge directly out of the printer to remove it. Set the toner cartridge aside.
- 3). Locate the side panel locking button under the toner cartridge panel. Press the button and slide the ride side panel towards you to remove it. Set the panel aside.
- 4). Turn the printer around so that you have access to the back side of the unit. Lower the exit cover by pulling it outward with enough force to release the plastic clips securing it. You should now have access to two Phillips screws in the upper corners of the printer, behind the exit cover.
- 5). Remove the two screws using a Phillips screwdriver. Remove the now free back panel from the printer. Note that you may have to use a small flathead screwdriver to pry the panel at the seams until it is free, starting at the bottom of the panel and working your way up. Set the back panel aside.
- 6). Remove the Phillips screw in the upper right and left corners. These screws secure the top cover of the printer and are located behind the back panel that you just removed.
- 7). Turn the printer around so that you have access to the front side of the unit. Locate the two Phillips screws in the top right and left corners, beneath the toner cartridge panel. Remove the screws.
- 8). Remove the toner cartridge panel hinge on the right side, by sliding a flathead screwdriver in between the hinge and prying the plastic lock piece out. Remove the plastic lock piece and set it aside.
- 9). Locate the hinge clip, directly to the right of the right hinge. Depress the clip with a flathead screwdriver to unlatch it. Repeat this with the left hinge clip. Pull the toner cartridge panel directly up to remove it. You now have access to the internal components of the HP 2100.
