Video: How to Remove Washable Marker From Dry Clean-Only Clothing
Video Transcript
Hi, I'm Bruce Gershon from Arrow Fabricare. And today, we're going to talk about how to remove washable marker from dry clean only clothing. So, what I have here is a skirt, dry clean only. It happens to be a silk and cotton blend. And, we have some washable marker on the skirt. So, one of the reasons that things like this are marked "dry clean only" would be the fabric content. Sometimes, it's the amount of sizing in a garment that keeps you from, you know, wanting to wash it. But, that doesn't mean that you can't use moisture. In this case, we're going to use a little dish washing or hand soap and some water to remove this stain. So, I'm going to take a white terry towel and put it underneath the garment to help absorb the moisture, and possibly move some of the stain into the towel. And then, I'll take another towel, and I'll take some liquid soap, and some water, and we will blot the stain with the towel, and the soap, and we'll basically get a transfer the staining marker into the towel. And, we'll repeat this a couple of times. Little more soap, and just the blotting method. I'm not going to rub it, because that can damage the fibers, rough them up, and fuzz the fiber. But, I'm just going to gently tamp it. The amount of moisture is going to harm the fabric, to get it a little wet. Going to move the towel around, and have more area for the washable marker to be removed off onto the towel. You may have to repeat the process several times, but continue to blot. Don't worry about how much moisture you're using. We're trying to work the stain into the towel and into the towel underneath. And, as you can see, a lot of the staining - the marker - went into the towel underneath. And then, we'll rinse that, and we should take care of the whole problem. So, that's how to remove washable marker from a dry clean only garment. I'm Bruce Gershon, thanks for watching.
