How to Apply Makeup in a Tropical Climate
- 1). Begin with a clean face so that you start your day with fresh skin. Apply a tinted moisturizer with SPF on the center of your face outwards in all directions. As this product is your moisturizer, foundation and sunblock in one, you cut down on the number of makeup layers you have on. If you have oily skin, you may want to smooth on an oil-free makeup primer after the tinted moisturizer. This keeps your makeup in place and discourages excess oil from coming to the surface.
- 2). Groom brows by tweezing away strays and trimming too-long hairs. If you have full brows which don't have any sparse areas, you can skip brow makeup entirely. Otherwise, fill in and define brows with light, feathery strokes using an angled brush and brow powder. Well-groomed brows that elegantly frame your eyes and face help in that you don't need as much makeup.
- 3). Keep eye makeup to a bare minimum. Pat concealer on undereye area and the inner corners of eyes to eliminate dark circles and shadows. Open eyes up by curling your lashes and applying one coat of a waterproof mascara to top lashes only. If you absolutely crave color on your eyelids, prep them with a light, even layer of eye makeup primer before swiping on a sheer cream-to-powder eyeshadow from lash line to crease. Shades that work well in this setting are shimmery pastels and bronzes.
- 4). Massage cream blush into the apples of your cheeks. Using cream instead of powder ensures that your makeup will not turn cakey and crepey later in the day. Select a pink or coral hue, depending on your preference and skin tone. Blend away any lines of demarcation for a natural-looking glow.
- 5). Pat some of the makeup primer onto lips for lip color that stays in place. You can use a tinted lip balm with SPF or a lipstick with SPF. If the lipstick is very highly pigmented, pat the color onto your lips to create a stained effect instead of a heavy one.
