How to Remove a Grease Stain from A Cotton Blouse
- 1). Blot the grease spot with a paper towel. Blotting the area helps remove all the grease possible before treating the area with other cleaners, allowing the cleaners to be more effective.
- 2). Apply a generous amount of purchased gel stain cleaner to the area and rub it in. Let the cleaner sit for a few minutes before washing the blouse.
- 3). Wash the blouse in cool water. Do not use a hot- or warm-water wash, as that will likely set the stain so that you cannot remove it.
- 4). Let the blouse air-dry so you can see whether the stain is still there.
- 5). Apply more gel cleaner to the area and tamp the greasy spot if some of the stain remains. To tamp a stain, take a soft-bristled brush--like a toothbrush--and, laying the blouse on a hard surface, rap the spot with the brush until the grease spot is gone.
- 6). Wash your blouse to remove the gel stain cleaner, then dry it in a clothes dryer.
