My iPhone Got Wet & Will Not Stay On
- 1). Shut down your sodden iPhone. It will likely shut itself off before you get a chance to, but check to make sure.
- 2). Immediately wipe the exterior of the phone with a dry cloth. Remove as much moisture as you can while being careful not to accidentally turn the device back on. Powering your soaked internal components will not help your cause.
- 3). Pack the phone in an open container of uncooked rice, which will draw the moisture out. Completely cover the device in rice and leave it covered for at least 48 hours. A full week would be best, however, as turning the device back on before it's fully dry can cause more damage.
- 4). Remove the iPhone after it has thoroughly dried and turn it on. If you're lucky, your device will power on and stay on. There's a chance it will suffer no ill effects from its submersion. If your iPhone still isn't working, however, you'll have to replace or repair it.
