How to Make a Puffed Quilt
- 1). Cut out 15 pieces of 5-inch-by-5-inch squares from each of the eight quilt fabrics. These are the top pieces of your quilt. Cut out 120 of the same size pieces of muslin for the underside of your puff quilt.
- 2). Sew together each piece of cut fabric square to cut muslin square. Make sure the main side of the fabric is facing away from the muslin. Sew the fabric squares together along the perimeter, 1/2 inch in from each end. Leave 2 inches open on one side of each quilt square to leave room for stuffing the puffed quilt.
- 3). Stuff each quilt square with enough polyfill to make the quilt square puffy. Do not overstuff; you will need to be able to sew the squares closed and then sew them together.
- 4). Stitch each filled quilt square closed and then sew the puffed quilt squares together, starting with one square to form the middle of the quilt and working outward. Continue to attach the squares until the puffed quilt is complete.
