How to Keep Glow Sticks From Glowing
- 1). Ensure that glow stick remains in the paper or plastic sleeve it came in. Should the sleeve become damaged, carefully place another over top of the unopened glow stick. Alternatively, you can use an envelope, though this alone may not be sufficient if you are traveling with your glow sticks and want to avoid accidentally cracking the glass tube and prematurely activating the chemicals.
- 2). Avoid accidental cracking of the glow stick. Pack the unopened glow stick in a larger box, like a tissue box, with crumpled tissues to provide cushioning all around it. Crumple tissues and place them in a box, using enough to create a soft bed for your glow stick(s). Place tissues on top and along the sides of the glow stick(s). Close or seal the box once you have created sufficient cushioning around the glow stick(s).
- 3). Store glow stick(s) until ready for use. Place it or them in safe storage -- packed in the box and within comfortable temperature and humidity -- away from anyone or anything that may damage the box. Do not lean anything against the box or stack anything on top of it.
