    • 1). Pull the power adapter from the laptop computer. Attempt to restart the computer and if it does not reboot on battery power alone, the battery is most likely dead.

    • 2). Flip the laptop over and remove the screws from the battery case with a Phillips screwdriver, if necessary. Pull off the cover and slide out the battery.

    • 3). Place the laptop battery in a plastic bag with a zipper on the top and shut the bag. Place the bag with battery inside another larger bag with a zipper top and close it tightly; this protects the battery from moisture.

    • 4). Lay the battery in a refrigerator freezer for three to four days.

    • 5). Remove the battery from the freezer and let it thaw out to room temperature. This may take several hours. Do not try to speed up the thawing process with heat or any other method. Wipe off any moisture or condensation with a cloth.

    • 6). Replace the battery and attach the cover with a screwdriver, if necessary. Reattach the power adapter. Wait a few moments and try to reboot the computer. Prime the battery like you would a new one by fully charging and discharging three times.

    • 7). Send the battery in for repair or replace it if this method does not restore it.
