How to Find a Chat Room ISP
- 1). Find the chat room you want to know information about, and take note of the website address of that chat room.
- 2). Open your start menu and choose "Run." Type "msconfig" in the box and click "run." This will open up your command prompt box.
- 3). Type "Ping" followed by a space and the website address of the chat room. For example, if you wanted to find the IP address of a page at Yahoo chat, you would type in "Ping yahoochat.com" without the quotation marks. The command prompt function will ping the website and return a numerical address, or IP address.
- 4). Type the numerical IP address into a search box at any ISP locator tools found online. Some are listed in resources. Hit "search" or "get information" when you've typed in the address. The locator will usually return the location of the ISP. In some cases, you might also get the name of the company that runs the ISP. Most locators are free for that information. You can subscribe to their service or pay a fee to find out more detailed information about the ISP in question.
