    • 1). Purchase and install the Internet-monitoring program GFI Web Monitor. You can download this program for free and try it for 30 days before deciding if you'd like to purchase it. GFI Web Monitor allows you to limit Internet time for different computer users, monitor Web navigation and block downloads.

    • 2). Download Track4Win, a program that allows you to monitor and limit the time spent on the computer by members of your family. If you have multiple Internet users in your home, you can use Track4Win to limit every computer in your home network, if desired. Like other monitoring programs, you can download and try it for free before choosing to pay for it.

    • 3). Use Safe Eyes, an Internet-monitoring software produced by the antivirus software company McAfee. Once you decide how much time each child should spend online, set the time limits for that child using Safe Eyes. You can also set times in the day or night at which no child is allowed to surf the Internet, and change a child's time limit should the need arise.
