    • 1). Install DVD creation software, such as Muvee AutoProducer by Muvee, Corel DVD MovieFactory by Corel or Roxio MyDVD by Sonic Solutions. A DVD creation software, also known as DVD authoring software, allows you to upload movie files from your camcorder and create DVDs with scenes and special effects. When purchasing a DVD creation software, look for features such as menu creation, quality of video, templates and image special effects.

    • 2). Connect the Sony Handycam to the computer using a USB cord or its preferred connection method. A USB cord is a standard computer cord identified by a three-prong design, which features a long straight line with two lines branching off. If the Sony Handycam does not use a USB cord to connect to the computer, review its owner's manual to determine how the camcorder can connect to a PC or Mac.

    • 3). Upload video files into the computer. Locate files and separate into individual movie files. Once the camcorder is connected to your computer, you should receive a pop-up box asking if you would like to upload the files from the camcorder. After the files are uploaded, locate them in the specified folder the files were uploaded to. Create new folders based on the scenes you wish to create. For example, a family vacation upload may require a folder for the drive, beach, dinner and miscellaneous shots.

    • 4). Open the DVD creation software. Follow instructions to upload and edit scenes. The exact process of creating and editing a DVD will vary from product to product.

    • 5). Place a blank DVD into your CD/DVD-Rom, or optical drive. Blank DVDs are available at any electronics retail store.

    • 6). Engage the burner to create the DVD of your home movie.

    • 1). Place an appropriate blank DVD into the camcorder. The Sony Handycam DVD camcorders typically use double sided mini DVDs, which are available wherever blank DVDs are sold.

    • 2). Record your home movies. The size of the DVD will determine how much data, or minutes, the DVD can hold.

    • 3). Press the "Finalize" button, which is typically located on the viewscreen of the camcorder. This feature will finalize the DVD so it is playable on standard DVD players or in computers.
