Disposal of CCF Lights
- 1). Dispose the light in a trash bag if the CCF light is not broken. Take the trash bag to your local hazardous waste collection site. You can find the location of your local site through websites like Earth911.com, Lightbulbrecycling.com or your state's pollution control agency.
- 2). Open the windows and doors of the room, if a light has been broken. Switch off the air conditioning and remove people and pets.
- 3). Pick up the bigger pieces and place them in a trash bag. Use duct tape to clean up the smaller pieces. Do not use a vacuum cleaner or a broom if you are cleaning a hard surface. In case you are cleaning a soft surface like carpet, a vacuum cleaner can be used. Empty the vacuum bag in the trash bag.
- 4). Wipe down the surface with a damp washcloth and dispose the washcloth in the trash bag. Do not use or wash this cloth again, as it can contaminate the sewer system.
- 5). Dispose of the trash bag at a hazardous waste collection site.
