No Sew Fleece Ski Hat Directions
- 1). Choose the color and thickness of the fleece you will be using. Measure the circumference of the individual's head that will be wearing the hat. To find the length of the fleece, add the measurement of the individuals head plus 3 1/4-inches. The width of the fleece will be 14-inches. Cut the fleece to match these measurements.
- 2). Place the masking tape along the vertical edge of the cut fleece, 3-inches in from the edge. Mark the tape in 2/3-inch segments. Cut the fleece along these guidelines, making a fringe along the outer edge near the masking tape.
- 3). Fold the fleece, so that the fringed edges are together. Tie small double knots with the adjacent fringe segments, along the edge. When all of the fringe segments are tied, fold the brim of the hat up twice -- using the bottom edge. This will leave the fringed edge visible. If you want the fringe to be hidden, turn the fleece inside out and then fold the brim.
- 4). Gather the hat and tie a piece of fleece, ribbon or yarn around the top, at the point where the top of the head will be. When that measurement is decided and tied off, untie the fringes above the tie, and cut them off.
- 5). Cut the top portion of the hat from the top edge to the tied off area, in a vertical direction. This will make a pompom. The pompom can be trimmed, if necessary.
