How to Visit to Wineries Near Paso Robles, Ca
- 1). Start your visits right in the heart of downtown Paso, where there are several wine shops and tasting rooms. This is known as the Downtown Paso Robles Wine Trail, and you can get brochures at the Paso Robles Chamber of Commerce or any of the tasting rooms on the trail. It's still under development, so don't be surprised if some of the locations have limited days and hours they're open. Bear Cave Cellars is a very interesting tasting room; the owners, a husband-and-wife team, practice law during the week and make wine on the weekends. Their downtown tasting room is in the same building with their law practice.
- 2). Reserve a Paso Robles wine tour with Central Coast Trolley. They offer wine tours in Paso Robles and San Luis Obispo using comfortable, air-conditioned San Francisco-style trolley cars. You'll be picked up and dropped off at your hotel, and you can enjoy a picnic lunch at one of the wineries. Ask if your favorite winery be included on your tour. Culinary and specialty tours are also available along with private charter service for weddings and special occasions.
- 3). Venture out on your own to "The End of the Road" and check out Dunning Vineyards Tasting Room. This award-winning winery is on Niderer Road and offers wine tasting along with educational tours. Two of their more recent awards include a private reserve Zinfandel and a Vin de Casa. You might consider staying at the adjacent Country Inn at the Vineyard, which has two suites. Two people can stay in the upstairs suite, and up to four people can stay in the downstairs suite.
- 4). Head on over to Eberle Winery, where you'll want to check out their underground caves. Every bottle of wine produced at the winery is aged in these caves. They even offer a private tasting 35 feet underground. As you enter their tasting room, you'll be greeted by a bronze replica of a boar--the original boar is located in Florence, Italy, and dates back to the 1600s. Enjoy a gourmet lunch out on their deck. They also offer many annual events and monthly chef dinners.
- 5). Spend a morning or afternoon on the links at one of the several golf courses in the area. Enjoy luxurious spa treatments or a soak in mineral waters at the River Oaks Hot Springs Spa (originally known as Paso Hot Springs). Include a visit to the local farmer's market where you'll find hand-crafted items and flowers along with fresh produce. These are held all year long, usually on Tuesday and Saturday mornings.
