How to Mix Joint Compound With Paint
- 1). Pour half of a five-gallon container of joint compound into a clean five-gallon bucket.
- 2). Shake a gallon of paint vigorously to make sure it's completely mixed and the color is evenly distributed.
- 3). Pour half of the gallon of paint into the joint compound.
- 4). Insert mud paddles into your drill and mix the paint and joint compound thoroughly.
- 5). Roll the mixture onto the wall with a 3/4-inch nap roller.
- 6). Knock back the texture with a straight edge. Draw the straight edge over the texture, keeping the straight slightly off of the wall. Start at the top and draw the straight edge down without stopping until you reach the bottom of the wall. Clean the straight edge after each pass.
