How to Make Luggage Tags

    • 1). Cut your printed fabric scraps into two 3 1/2-by-5-inch-sized rectangles, then set aside. Cut one piece of fusible interfacing into the same size rectangle, then set aside. Cut one piece of vinyl to 2 1/2 by 3 inches in size, then set aside.

    • 2). Cut the ribbon into a 6-inch length, then fold in half and use the iron to press the seam you just created.

    • 3). Follow the fusible interfacing manufacturer's instructions to bond the interfacing to the wrong side of one of your printed fabric rectangles.

    • 4). Place the fabric rectangles right sides together and sandwich the vinyl layer in between. You'll notice that the vinyl piece is slightly shorter than the fabric pieces. This is so you can slip a piece of paper with your contact information into the finished luggage tag. Just make sure that three out of the four edges of the vinyl piece line up with the edges of the printed fabric rectangles.

    • 5). Tuck the raw edges of the folded ribbon in between the layers, making sure it is located at the end of the luggage tag that will not have the vinyl sewn into it.

    • 6). Pin all the layers in place, then stitch together with a 1/2-inch seam allowance, leaving a small opening for turning the fabric.

    • 7). Turn the fabric right-side out, then slipstitch the opening closed. Topstitch over the entire tag for a finished look.

    • 8). Handwrite or type up and print out your contact information, then slip it into the vinyl sleeve of your luggage tag.
