India to have a strong influence in the WEF meet
The World Economic Forum annual meeting is back yet again. It would be a five-day long talk fest, where business honchos, CEOs, tycoons and around 40 heads of government and delegates, will come together, on one common platform. The Swiss skiing resort town located in Davos (Switzerland) would be the venue for the meet. India has a team of 125 top officials including ministers and businessmen, who would be taking in this meeting. Our Heavy Industries Minister would also be an important member of the meeting, since the nation has been doing exceedingly well in that sector and will be looking to expand its reach, to several other nations.
This would also be the moment, to talk on several delicate issues, mainly the problems that have plagued Syria, in the recent past. To add to the tally, few other issues like the growth of the euro zone and the return of Iran to the diplomatic tables will hog away the limelight on the 43rd meeting of World Economic forum (WEF).
The heads from more than 40 states would be present for the meeting, including those of Switzerland, Mauritius, Republic of Korea, Iran, Japan, Israel, Italy, Australia, UK and India.
The Indian names for the meeting are the NCP Leader Praful Patel, Finance Minister P. Chidambaram, Commerce Minister Anand Sharma, Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia and Minister for Urban Development & Parliamentary Affairs Kamal Nath. To add to the tally, the Power Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and the Chief Minister of Maharashtra Prithviraj Chavan are scheduled for the meet. However, for India, it would be more than just another WEF meeting. It is an excellent opportunity for the nation to conduct multilateral and bilateral meetings with members coming from other countries.
The AIFF President Praful Patel will also be looking to enhance India's relations with some of the important member nations, of the world football. Patel will also be seeking opportunities that might help India's cause in bringing home the rights to host the Club championships to be held in 2015-2016.
Patel, in one of his recent interviews, had also mentioned that he would be travelling to a few foreign countries this year to ensure that India's chances of hosting the Club championships are heightened.
We hope that the WEF meet will spell a change in fortunes for the sectors in India that really need the guidance of seasoned campaigners. Probably, talking out the problems and issues with the counterparts shall do a world of good, to India. Not only India, but there would be several other countries, that would be looking forward to put an end to the issues, that have plagued their country and stunted their overall growth.
