Because our homes are where we spend a great deal of time, it's worthwhile to take the time to design a space that demonstrates your own personal taste, style and preference. House redesign is also a great way to update your home to market it or make it stand out if you're planning to sell. - Crucial because it's the initial introduction to your home, the exterior design of a house should be inviting and welcoming without being overdone. Landscaping is a great place to start, though it's troublesome because a mistake can be costly. While bright flowers accenting walkways are a simple start, other materials such as stepping stones and slate pathways can be equally as elegant.
- Usually the room in which most entertaining and relaxing is done, the living room should be a place of comfort and enjoyment. Installing a television in a cabinet capable of closing allows the room to multitask as a conversation area as well as a theater. Items like artwork or photos can be discussion starters, while plenty of furniture is mandatory for seating, comfort and style.
- While a consistent color scheme is an easy way to design a bathroom, storage and space use is equally important. Install over-the-toilet shelving or towel rods to keep linens or soaps. Maximize existing closet organization by placing canvas storage bins on the floor to hold seldom-used appliances, materials or spare shower curtains. Keep the mirror clean and bathroom lighting bright.
- An inexpensive way to update a kitchen is to apply a fresh coat of paint to cabinets and drawers. This update saves the time, energy and cost of replacing cabinetry while allowing for other updates such as matching artwork, matching dishware and table linens. Also, spruce up existing windows or even cut through a wall to create a new one. This changes the feel of the space and brings in new light.
- The master bedroom should be a place of peace and calm. The bed should be the foremost thought, as this is where you will spend the most time in this room. Invest in a good mattress, good pillows and soft linens. Arrange the furniture in the room to allow a comfortable space to move around in. Ideally, this room shouldn't include a television or phone because these can be disruptive to sleep or relaxation.
