Boiler Cleaning Tools
- Keeping the boiler in your home clean is important for safety and monetary reasons. A clogged boiler could be dangerous and it could cost more to run if it is not cleaned properly and regularly. Soot clogged in boilers can decrease the heating efficiency by as much as 50 percent. Two types of boilers are common: the watertube or the firetube. In the watertube version, the water travels through tubes and is heated from outside. In the firetube, the water is outside the pipes and the hot gasses travel through the pipes.
- A few different types of tube cleaners are available, such as turbine soot cleaner and vacuum tube cleaner for firetube boilers to the watertube cleaners. In the firetube boilers, the tube cleaners have to clear out soot, whereas in the watertube boilers they have to clean scale. These tube cleaners can range from air powered to electric powered and have various brushes that can be attached for cleaning the different styles of boilers.
- Your boiler's cooling tower is important as it regulates the temperature. Keeping this part clean is important because any dirty water accumulating in the cooling tower obstructs chillers and the heat exchange system that, in turn, costs money by driving up the cost of energy. The vacuum works by removing accumulated slime, dirt, algae, mud and any other contaminants from the cooling tower. The vacuum allows this without having to drain the entire system, which is time consuming and also keeps you from having to be in direct contact with bacteria.
- Brushes help to get into the tubes to clean out any mineral deposits and scale accumulating in the water tubes and soot that accumulates in the fire tubes. These types of brushes vary in sizes and are used in conjunction with the tube-cleaning machines.
