    Painting with Glidden Paint

    • 1). Cover all furniture and electronics with a heavy-duty cloth or plastic drop cloth. Remove valuable or breakable items from the room entirely. Remove light switch plates and outlet coverings with a screwdriver. Utilize blue painter's tape to cover any and all items you want to remain unpainted.

    • 2). Fill all nail holes with spackle. Allow the spackle to dry for one to two hours. Use fine sandpaper to smooth the spackle. Use latex caulking to fill cracks and crevices in walls, around ceiling lines and above baseboards.

    • 3). Pour Glidden paint into a five-gallon bucket until it is half-full. Place the roller screen into the bucket with the paint. Attach the roller cover firmly to the roller frame. Screw the roller frame firmly to the rolling pole.

    • 4). Dip the roller into the five-gallon bucket filled with Glidden paint. Saturate the roller cover and then rub it against the screen to remove excess paint. Carefully place the roller cover against the top of the left side of the wall. Roll downward until you reach the bottom, then proceed upward until the roller becomes dry. Dip the roller again and proceed painting, moving from left to right until the entire wall is painted. Leave three inches of unpainted space below ceiling lines, above baseboards, and around outlets and light switch plates; you will paint these areas with your paintbrush.

    • 5). Paint the remaining unpainted portions with your three- or four-inch paintbrush. Dip the brush only halfway into the five-gallon bucket filled with Glidden paint. Paint in long, smooth strokes. Watch carefully for drips or runs and smooth these out with your paintbrush when necessary. Dip your brush when it becomes dry and continue painting until you've painted all of the remaining unpainted areas. Apply another coat of Glidden paint if necessary.
