How to Clean a Black GE Cooktop Without Scratching
- 1). Create a cleaning solution consisting of 1/2 teaspoon mild liquid soap mixed in a cup of warm water. Use a soft, clean cloth to apply the solution to the cooktop, wiping the cleanser over the cooktop with small circular motions to remove any dirt and debris from the cooktop surface.
- 2). Remove the soap from the cooktop with a second cloth containing clean water only. Wait for the cooktop to dry after the soap removal.
- 3). Dampen a paper towel with vinegar and wipe the cooktop with the vinegar to remove anything missed by the soapy cleanser. Rinse with a cloth wet with water again.
- 4). Use a single edge razor blade to scrape off any cooked-on debris that the soap and vinegar doesn’t remove. Hold the blade against the surface at an angle with the blade at the edge of the stained area. Carefully scrape off the debris, pushing the blade along the surface of the cooktop slowly to pry the debris off.
- 5). Saturate a piece of cloth in vinegar and place over the area where the debris was present. Wait 15 minutes for the vinegar to penetrate any residue and then wipe the area with the cloth. Rinse with water and allow the cooktop to dry.
