Anti-Aging Skin Care Treatment
- Milk baths are a popular treatment that have been used throughout history. The ancient beauty Cleopatra bathed regularly in milk to clean and soften her skin.
Milk contains alpha and beta hydroxy acids that nourish, soothe, and moisturize the skin. The most familiar acid, lactic acid, is a gentle ingredient that removes dead skin cells that can build up on aging skin. The fat and protein in the milk heal damage and moisturize dry skin.
Keep a box of whole powdered milk in the bathroom. Run a warm bath and pour 2 cups of the powdered milk in the bath water. Soak for 15 minutes and rinse the body with warm water. - Olive oil was used by the ancient Greeks to moisturize and clarify the skin. The best type of olive oil is extra virgin. This oil is the least processed and is the lightest in color.
Olive oil is an excellent source of vitamin E and is a rich source of antioxidants. It repairs damaged cells and prevents further damage from free radicals in the environment.
Massage olive oil on the face and other areas of concern before bed, and allow it to be absorbed overnight. To create a more intensive treatment, add 1 part vitamin E oil to 3 parts olive oil. - Avocados originated in Southern Mexico and were discovered as a natural beauty ingredient by the women who referred to this fruit as the "alligator pear."
Avocados are rich in B vitamins, needed for an even and youthful complexion; vitamin A, which regulates sebum production; and vitamin E, which repairs damage from the sun. Avocados also contain more protein and natural oils than any other fruit.
Mash enough avocado to smooth over the face and other aging areas. Leave the creamy paste on the skin for 20 minutes and rinse with lukewarm water.
