How to Do a Ducting Extraction
- 1). Shut off your central air and heating from your breaker box. Allow an hour to pass to allow all dust to settle.
- 2). Put on protective eye wear and a face mask if you feel you need one.
- 3). Access your attic, crawlspace or wherever your central heat and air unit are located. Turn on a lamp if you do not have an attic light.
- 4). Use your screwdriver to loosen the screw on the clamp that fastens your duct work to your air and heating unit.
- 5). Slip that end of the duct, once it is loose, into your garbage bag.
- 6). Trace the ducting to the vent it is connected to. Use the screwdriver to remove the clamp holding the vent end of the ducting in place and then stuff all the ducting into your bag and seal it shut. Follow these steps to remove any additional duct work you want to remove.
