Airavateswara Temple – Pilgrim Center For Hindus
Airavateswara temple is designed in Dravidian architecture style. It is situated in Darasuram, near Kumarakom in Tamil Nadu. Rajaraja Chola II built this temple in 12th century. This outstanding temple is the center of tourist attraction.
The temple has a collection of beautiful paintings and stone carvings. You could see a mandappa constructed in the form of large stone wheel. There are a group of well carved paintings in the inner court. You can also find a beautiful statue of lord Ganesha.
Along with this, you can see large stone slabs sculptured with images of sapthamathas.
Nayaki Amman temple
Nayaki Amman temple is situated in the north of Airavateshvara temple. You can see the shrine of a goddess standing in the single court of this detached temple.
There are about 108 sections of inscriptions on the north wall of the temple. Recently, the temple has been listed amongst the topmost temples built by the Chola kings.

Brihadeeswara temple at Thanjavur and temple of Gangaikondacholisvaram at Gangaikonda Cholapuram are the other interesting temples in close proximity.
