Rules for a Loving Relationship
- Relationships are all about support. If you want your loving relationship to remain a strong one, your partner must see that you support him in all endeavors. Show your support by attending functions of importance to your partner or encouraging him to pursue his dreams. Verbally expressing your support through praise will also help your partner feel that you are there for him and likely make and keep your relationship a strong one.
- Regardless of how strong your relationship may be, issues will present themselves from time to time. While you may be eager to push these issues aside, doing so is a major mistake as the issues will almost inevitably resurface. For optimal relationship health, tackle the issues head on, working through them so you can put them to bed and move past them.
- Listening to your partner is the only way to know what he truly wants and needs. When your partner tries to share information with you about his desires, be attentive and take the information in. If you are dismissive or are simply not listening, your partner will likely feel that you are unresponsive and may even stop making attempts to communicate with you at all.
- Just as individuals grow and develop, relationships necessarily change over time. Don't be put off by the fact that your relationship changes as you and your partner mature and develop as individuals. Instead, roll with these changes and allow your relationship to, like a fine wine, get better with age.
- The mundane duties of day-to-day life leave many lovers neglecting the romantic duties associated with their relationships. While you may not have time to take your partner out to a romantic dinner or sit around whispering sweet nothings into her ear on a daily basis, you should not allow too much time to pass between these romantic efforts, as doing so can lead to your relationship fizzling.
- Even through your love for your partner may seem to you to be quite obvious, don't assume that it is. Instead, tell your partner that you love him often and in an assortment of ways. This simple verbal expression of your continued devotion can do much to show your lover just how committed to him you actually are.
