The function of a wedding is a sacred one for every one. In India, it is overly hyped with divinity. For an Indian woman, the day of her marriage is the most important day of her life. To make this day the most memorable one, the family starts the preparations months and months in advance. Jewelry has a significant role to play when it comes down to Indian marriages. The bride is generally attired from her head to toe in stunning jewelry which complements her dressing and personality.

The Indian bride normally wears the following ornaments-

Tiara or Maangtika: Tiara, called as Maangtika, is used to beautify the centre forehead splitting. This ornament is now available in different colors and styles. Generally, for wedding wear, Maangtika having a decorative centerpiece is favored, having a long string. Nowadays tiaras in crown form are also being used.

Accessories for the hair: The style of wearing accessories on the hair is in vogue nowadays. It's slowly turning into a major fashion statement. The hair accessories should go along with the dress of the bride, for instance if the bride's dress has gold embroidery in it then the hair accessories should also have a similar look, same with diamonds. Silver hairpins and Pearl headgear are also in style in the current times. In few parts of India, headgears covered completely with flowers also form a part of the bridal outfit.

Nose ring: The traditional kind of a nose ring worn by an Indian bride is in the form of a ring attached to a long chain that is hooked on to the hair. It's also referred to as 'Nath'. Certain castes wear the nose ring without the chain. With the changing times in fashion, the nose ring also has undergone a tremendous change, being available in very stylist designs.

Earrings: The only piece of jewellery that is available in almost every kind of style and shape one can imagine. Right from the dangling heavy jumkhas to the tiny delicate studs, we find different varieties of earrings. Different pearls or gemstones are the core of the earrings made up of precious metals. Today covering the entire ear with the huge earring is a new trend. The Indian bride normally wears earrings which are connected to a chain that is copped into the hair.

Necklace: The necklace is the definite attraction in the bride's attire. Commonly found in all forms of shape and patterns. The selection of an appropriate necklace is based on the neckline of the dress along with the pattern and color. For a dress with plunging neckline, a long necklace would be apt, where as for a high neckline, a choker would suit best.

Bangles: A very important piece of jewellery in the bride's attire. Different kinds of bangles are available in the market today made of different metals and studded with precious stones.

Armbands: Also known as 'Bajubandh' it is widely used in bridal jewelry that is put on the upper portion of the bride's arms.

Ring bracelet: Ring bracelets are a custom which has to be followed in certain parts of India, it is finger rings all looped by a chain.
