How to Troubleshoot Eye TV
- 1). Change your computer's audio input if you cannot hear any sound during your EyeTV recordings. Double-click on the EyeTV software icon on your system's home screen to launch the program. Click on the "Controls" tab at the top of the screen and select "Input." Choose the "Composite" or "S-Video" options, and press "OK." Press the "Play" button at the bottom of the screen to ensure that you can hear audio from your EyeTV tuner.
- 2). Tighten the coaxial cable connection on your EyeTV device if you notice a blurry or pixelated picture while trying to watch television. Place your EyeTV's digital antenna closer to a window to try to pick up a stronger broadcast signal. Double-click on the "Device Preferences" tab at the top of the EyeTV software if the problem persists. Click on the blue "Encoding" tab at the center of the screen and select "High" to ensure that your EyeTV tuner is displaying the highest-quality picture possible.
- 3). Auto-tune your EyeTV device if you receive the "Missing Codec" error message while trying to watch television. Double-click on the EyeTV software's icon on your computer's Home Screen. Click on the "Channels" tab at the top of the screen. Click within the "Service" dialog box at the center of the screen, and select "Cable" or "Antenna" depending on how you receive your television channels. Click "OK" to finalize your new settings.
