    • 1). Open Photoshop and go to "File" > "Open." Select the photograph to be adjusted and hit "OK."

    • 2). Select the "Polygonal Lasso" tool in the Tools palette. You may need to click-hold on the "Lasso" tool and choose "Polygonal Lasso" from the list.

    • 3). Click on an area on the edge of the hair. Slowly outline the entire head of hair, including wayward stands. If there is a space in between stands of hair, ignore them for now. Once the hair is completely outlined, hold down the "Alt" and outline the space in the hair. Holding down "Alt" while using a Selection tool will deselect any area in a selection.

    • 4). Go to "Selection" > "Modify" > "Feather." Place a value of "5" in the designated space and hit "OK."

    • 5). Hit "Ctrl+B" or go to "Image" > "Adjustments" > "Color Balance" to open the Color Balance dialog box. Slide the tabs to remove the color cast from the selected hair. If the hair looks blue and dull, move the tabs closer to "Yellow" or "Magenta." If the hair is yellowed or has a pink cast, slide the tabs closer to "Cyan" and "Blue." The image previews the color changes. Make adjustments until the proper color is attained. Hit "OK."
